Stone, timber and light

Terra & Tones is an interior design studio in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, doing homes end to end, from the floor to the ceiling. Turn the leaves to walk through the rooms.

Tones

Terra is the ground. Tones are the light on it.

Black marble from the Smoke & Copper waterfall island, bookmatched: two consecutive slices opened like a book, so the veins mirror at the seam.

Terra

Stone, timber, cane and cloth: the materials a room is built from. We choose them first, side by side, and let them set the palette for everything else.

  • Gold-veined marble
  • Oak veneer
  • Linen
All twelve materials

Tones

Then the light. Coves, backlit niches and glass lit from inside decide how those materials read in the morning and after dark.

Every room on this site, each sampled into five tones and stacked edge-on like the sheets of a flitch.

Kept in sequence

Fine veneer is sold by the flitch: every leaf cut from one log and stacked in the order it was cut, so the grain runs on from sheet to sheet. We keep each project the same way, room after room.
